Make learning fun! 

The Central Illinois S.T.E.A.M. League (CISL) is more than just a robotics program — it’s a launchpad for young innovators. Through hands-on robotics challenges, creative problem-solving, and team competitions, students in grades 5–8 will discover how exciting science, technology, engineering, arts, and math can be.

Students will build a robot that will use to complete in various competitions. In addition to building and programming their robot, students will use our Enterprise model to operate their team like a professional organization. That means in addition

Workshops: Nov 8, Dec 13, Jan 10, Feb 14, Mar 14 (9am–12pm)

Spring Camp: Apr 9–10, 2026 (9am–12pm)

Final Showcase & Celebration: Apr 11, 2026 (9am–2pm)

 

Competition Elements

Building a Robot

Robot Game and Engineering Design

Students will build a robot to complete various tasks. Points will be awarded based on task completion.

There will be two phases: Driver Phase and the autonomous phase.

Students will be able to earn additional points for documenting their robot build. Notebooks will be assessed at the final tournament.

Real - World Problem Sovling

Students will identify a problem from their community that could be solved with drones, robots or computers. Students will present their research at the showcase. Points will be awarded based on the Real-World Problem and Solution rubric.

Marketing and Graphic Design

Students will create a poster for their team along with a team logo. Points will be awarded based on a vote from the attendees of the showcase.

Students will create a 30 second video highlighting either their robot or real-world problem solution. Students will be awarded points based on the audience feedback and the Video production rubric.
